Hosting types available

Technology has progressed so much over the past few years. A variety of web hosting types have been developed to meet the needs of websites and customers in different ways. Here are a few of them:

  • Shared Web Hosting
  • Dedicated Hosting
  • VPS Hosting
  • Cloud
  • Reseller

In this article, we are going to look into the most popular web hosting types in greater detail.

Shared Web Hosting

It is an option to host a website on a server that others use too. There is no doubt that shared hosting is a very common service that most web hosts offered. I see it as an excellent fit for new content sites with low traffic expectations in the near future. It is also cheap and easy to set up. There's no doubt that this system is most suitable for both personal websites as well as websites belonging to small and medium-sized businesses.

One recommendation is that anyone taking their digital marketing seriously, or running a business online, carefully reviews their options. Second, they should be sure that their provider is able to grant services such as SSD hosting, which is designed for e-commerce websites specifically. In addition, shared hosting isn't suitable for large websites that receive a large amount of traffic. To guarantee decent website performance for these websites, a dedicated server need to be able to accommodate a sufficient amount of resources.

VPS Hosting

Known as virtual private servers (VPS) or virtual dedicated servers (VDS), act like a dedicated server even if they are actually serving more than one website. VPS style hosting is thus regarded as a stepping stone between shared hosting and owning a dedicated machine as it provides all the benefits of both types of setups. In comparison with shared hosting, VPS hosting is primarily characterized by the fact that clients have full access to configure the server, which is much more like a dedicated hosting environment.

The use of a virtual private server is often preferred by smaller websites and organizations that want the flexibility of having their own dedicated server without the high costs associated with it.

Dedicated Hosting

A dedicated hosting service (sometimes referred to as managed hosting or as a dedicated server) allows users to rent entire servers. The disadvantage to this type of hosting is that it is significantly more expensive when put side-by-side with shared hosting plans; as a result, it is really only used when a website has a lot of traffic or when more server control is required.

The term dedicated hosting refers to providing a single website with the entirety of the server equipment housed in a data center. This makes it easier to manage servers from a self-service perspective. Compared to a traditional server, this arrangement is considered more flexible since it gives users total control over the server, its software, and security systems. While managing a platform yourself is not only more cost-effective, but it also saves you the time and effort of hiring a third party.

Cloud Hosting

Cloud hosting is the newest type of hosting to hit the market in the last few years and it is rapidly gaining popularity. There are many web servers that are interconnected when this type of hosting is performed. This type of web hosting provides the web infrastructure with affordability, scalability and reliability.

It is no coincidence that cloud hosting plans typically come with unmetered, reliable bandwidth and an unlimited amount of disk space for any number of domains, which is why so many large businesses are moving to the cloud. A website that has resource-intensive applications or a large number of content assets, such as images, or that uses a lot of bandwidth can benefit from this method, but its costs can be higher.

Reseller Hosting

A reseller hosting account is a hosting account where the owner of the account can use the allocated hard drive space and bandwidth to host a website on behalf of a third party on behalf of the account owner. In this case, the original account holder is the reseller who is helping you to set up your hosting account. Hosting resellers is an excellent idea if you do not need all the resources and don't mind sharing with another party. You get a recurring income if you share your hard drive space, bandwidth, CPU load, etc. with someone else.

For entrepreneurs who are interested in this business practice, hosting providers offer reseller hosting plans tailored to accommodate them. Anyone with more than one domain can also benefit from the use of reseller hosting packages. In addition to the resources assigned to the reseller hosting account, you may also design and offer your own hosting services for your clients that match their requirements.
